Saif Ali Khan Stabbing LATEST UPDATE: Police Present Evidence, Oppose Suspect's Bail

In a significant development in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, Mumbai police have vehemently opposed the release on bail of the suspect, Mohammad Shariful Islam. During a court hearing on Friday, police officials presented compelling evidence linking the recovered knife fragments to the attack on the actor.

The prosecution revealed that a fragment of the knife, which had become lodged near Saif Ali Khan's spine during the assault, was a perfect match for the weapon found at the crime scene. Further analysis confirmed that all three recovered pieces were indeed part of the same knife used to attack the actor.

This strong evidence, coupled with the suspect's status as an undocumented Bangladeshi citizen residing in India, has led the police to argue that there is a high risk of him fleeing the country if granted bail. The police maintain that the seriousness of the crime and the weight of the evidence against him warrant his continued detention.

For the unversed, the suspect, in his bail plea, had claimed that he was being falsely accused. “The FIR is patently false and a false case has been registered against him," his plea read.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder at his Mumbai residence in the early hours of January 16. It was reported that at around 2 AM, the actor heard noises when one of his female employees was attacked in Jeh’s room. This prompted Saif to intervene, which led to an altercation between the two and the attacker injured both Saif and the female employee.

Saif got discharged on January 21 post surviving multiple injuries by the robber.
