Bollywood actor Amrita Arora recently testified in court regarding the 2012 Saif Ali Khan hotel brawl case. She revealed that an NRI businessman, Iqbal Sharma, allegedly barged into their private enclosure before the altercation took place. Saif Ali Khan, accused of assault, has consistently maintained that he acted in self-defense.
Amrita Arora’s Witness Account
On Saturday, Amrita Arora appeared in court as a witness in the case involving Saif Ali Khan. The incident, which occurred at a five-star hotel in Mumbai, led to allegations that Saif assaulted Iqbal Sharma and his father-in-law, Raman Patel.
Recalling the night, Arora stated that she was dining with Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, and other friends in a private section of the restaurant when Sharma suddenly entered and began shouting. "We saw someone barging into our enclosure, speaking in a loud, aggressive voice, and telling us to keep quiet. We were all shocked. Saif immediately stood up and apologised," Amrita shared.
She further claimed that Sharma initially left but later returned and physically confronted Saif. "When Saif went to the washroom, we heard loud voices, including his. Moments later, Sharma came back and hit him," she added, explaining that their group had to step in to separate the two.
Police Charges Against Saif Ali Khan
According to police reports, Sharma objected to the loud conversations at Saif’s table, which led to the heated exchange. Sharma alleged that Saif punched him, causing a nasal fracture, and that the actor, along with his friends, also assaulted his father-in-law.
Saif, however, insists that Sharma provoked him by using abusive language directed at the women in the group. He claims that he acted only after being physically attacked first. Saif Ali Khan, along with his friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, has been charge-sheeted under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with voluntarily causing grievous hurt. The case remains under trial, and further hearings will determine the outcome.
