Blockbuster director SS Rajamouli, who’s celebrated for bringing grand cinematic spectacles to life, surprised fans by turning into a passionate cricket commentator on social media. Just ahead of the IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), the filmmaker took to X to share a moving post that captured the emotions, grit, and glory tied to this year’s most awaited cricket showdown.

Rajamouli’s post featured a powerful image of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer shaking hands, a symbol of mutual respect and fierce sportsmanship. But it was his words that truly stole the spotlight. In a rare and emotional shoutout, he highlighted the resilience of PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, who has had a rollercoaster ride through multiple IPL franchises.

The director wrote about Iyer’s comeback story with admiration: “Iyer guiding Bumrah's and Boult's yorkers to the third man boundary… Exquisite… This man leads Delhi to a final… and is dropped… Leads Kolkata to a trophy… dropped… Leads a young Punjab to the finals after 11 years. He deserves this year’s trophy too.”

Shreyas, who was bought by PBKS for a record-breaking INR 26.75 crore, has indeed proven his worth, leading the team to the finals after more than a decade. But Rajamouli didn’t stop there. He also praised Virat Kohli’s unmatched consistency and hunger for success, saying: “On the other hand, it is Kohli… who is performing year on year… compiling thousands of runs.
