Adnan Khan attributes the drop in ratings of his show Mannat to Virat Kohli: 'No one can compete with him'

Actor Adnan Khan, who plays the lead role in the television show Mannat – Har Khushi Paane Ki opposite Ayesha Singh, recently addressed the decline in the show's TRP ratings during an exclusive chat with India Forums. According to Khan, the drop is not limited to his show alone but has affected several others, which he attributes to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Speaking on the matter, Adnan Khan said, "It was because of the IPL. Sirf humare show ki hi nahi, baaki sare shows ki bhi giri hai ratings." He pointed out that the timing of the drop in television viewership coincided with the peak of IPL matches, which consistently draw large audiences across the country.

Khan particularly singled out Virat Kohli’s popularity as a factor. He stated that the presence of Kohli during the IPL season made it difficult for any television show to retain or grow its viewership. "And come on, it is only justified, saamne, there is Kohli man. I mean who could compete with Virat Kohli ever? I definitely cannot, toh ratings toh girni hi thi," he said.

Khan’s remarks reflect a broader trend that occurs annually when the IPL airs. Many shows across various genres see temporary dips in their ratings as sports fans tune into cricket matches instead of scripted programming. The issue is not new to the industry, and showrunners and actors often anticipate such shifts during the IPL season.

Earlier speaking about the reports of his show being under the scanner, Adnan stated that these reports emerge everytime the ratings of the show drop.

While Khan's show has seen a decline in ratings, he appears to take it in stride, acknowledging that competing for viewership during major cricket events is a challenge. There was no mention of any changes planned for the show in response to the ratings dip.

Mannat – Har Khushi Paane Ki continues to air, and it remains to be seen how the show's ratings will stabilize now that the IPL has concluded.
