Virat Kohli wrote that his dad taught him not to take shortcuts in his life. He told him to believe that he would get his due in life with his hard work.

He told his son that if he was unwilling to work hard for something, then he did not deserve it in the first place. Virat Kohli’s father passed away on December 18, 2006 when he was playing a Ranji Match. His mother said that his attitude towards the game changed after that incident. His focus was on a completely new level. When his father died of a heart attack in December 2006, Delhi was playing a Ranji match against Karnataka. He was batting overnight on 40.
