Reds, greens will always dominate bridal wear: Falguni Peacock

New Delhi, Sep 26 (IANS) Known for their ultra feminine and glamorous clothes, Mumbai based designer duo Shane and Falguni Peacock believe that reds and greens will always make their presence felt in bridal wear.

'No matter how stylish and modern a bride becomes but at the end of the day, she behaves like a typical Indian bride and opts for colours that make her look beautiful and radiant,' Falguni told IANS Friday at a preview of their bridal collection for the upcoming Bridal Asia 2008 here.

'She wants to look different and stand out from the crowd, and a touch of bridal colours in her attire do the trick,' she said.

The 10th edition of Bridal Asia will be held at the Ashoka Hotel Oct 7-9 and will bring leading bridal couturiers, wedding planners, lifestyle designers and jewellery design houses under one roof.

Shane and Falguni's bridal collection has an international feel to it as they have focused on mixing Indian traditions with Western cuts.

'We have focused on mixing two cultures together. Our blouses have an international touch whereas our lehengas are more Indian,' Falguni explained.

For this collection, the designer duo have used colours like golden, maroons, red, green and pink with a mix of heavy embroidered saris and lehengas incorporated with layering and stones to give a bridal feel.

In terms of material, the designers have experimented with brocade, chiffon and satins - focusing mainly on the comfort level of the bride.

'The USP of this collection is heavy embroidery, layering and texturing. We have introduced new cuts in the blouses, that give them a contemporary Western look,' Falguni said.

'We have taken special care to make sure our heavy embroidered lehengas do not pinch the body of the bride,' she added.

The duo started out in 2002 and in the same year they launched their pret label 'Peacock', which is synonymous with high luxury pret and evening wear. The label focuses on dresses that are dreamy, romantic and youthful.

The duo specialize in corsets, ponchos, slip dresses, embroidered shirts, trousers and jackets. Falguni looks into the orders and the running of the company whereas Shane looks into the growth and expansion of the firm.
