'Always thought I was never perfect': Pushpa Impossible's Indraxi Kanjilal on never doing Theatre plays

Young actress Indraxi Kanjilal, better known as Prarthana from Pushpa Impossible, hails from Kolkata and has a deep love for theatre.

On World Theatre Day, she says, “I have never performed in a play on stage. I always thought I wasn’t perfect enough to act in one. However, I used to watch plays and always nurtured the desire to perform.”

She adds, “Look at the history of theatre—so many great scholars like Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov, and Oscar Wilde have contributed to it. In Kolkata, we have renowned theatre groups like Nandikar, Bohurupee, and others, which have produced some of the greatest plays.”

Indraxi, who now considers herself a confident actress, feels that given the opportunity, she would definitely perform in a play. “I am definitely looking for a good opportunity. The biggest USP of theatre is its ability to highlight social issues strongly. In remote places where television, OTT platforms, and films cannot reach, theatre can. For an actress, it’s an incredible feeling to receive live reactions from the audience. Also, you get instant feedback. I regard theatre as the greatest of all art forms—one of the best ways for a human being to share with another a sense of what it truly means to be human,'' Indraxi ends.
