While technology and the social media boom have simplified our lives in many ways, sometimes they also turn out to be a curse, when wrongly misused by someone for their own benefits.

Recently, it just took a toll on actress Teena Chopra, who is best known for her stint as Payal on Star Plus' popular show 'Ek Hasina Thi'. The actress was recently troubled by a 16 year old guy, who hacked all her social media profiles and started blackmailing her. Not only this, he also tried to defame the actress and her loved ones, by posting their pictures on the social media. Teena later went on to complain about this in the police station and the cyber crime cell.

TellyBuzz spoke to Teena about the entire matter. She told us, "The guy who has hacked all my social media profiles, is just 16 years old! It was big torture; He started blackmailing me by demanding Rs. 50 lakhs first and then 10 lakhs and after that he again demanded 5 lakhs more. He has all my private pictures and he also tried to harm my friends and family. He had even put up a video of my friend. He is a hacker and has earlier tried to hack other actors' profiles as well."

"Just because we are actors, they are trying to put us down and blackmail us like this? Such people always try to defame a public figure by doing all this and blackmailing them. He has also confessed that he had searched for other actors and tried to hack their accounts as well. He had the responsibility of his family upon him, therefore he wanted money. That's why he chose this way to get money. The police really cooperated. He was soon taken under-remand. He said nothing else but just that he wanted money," added Teena.

"I am planning to put off all my social networking profiles from now on. It's scary; I am not going to be on any social media sites anymore," concludes Teena.
