President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Shri to Raveena earlier this week. Many people ridiculed her on social media after receiving the award, asking why she was chosen. Now the actress has responded to trolls who criticized her for being awarded the Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian honours in India. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Raveena stated that she would not give importance to those who have questioned her award and that their comments would not diminish her body of work. She further added that trolls only see glamour and do not appreciate the hard work and long hours that actors put in.
“I don’t want to give any importance to them as they have their own agenda. The comments of few, who have 20 followers and haven’t seen the work that I have done, will not diminish my body of work. Trolls only see the glamour; they don’t see the hard work and long hours we put in."
In the interview, Raveena stated that she chooses projects that make a difference to society, in addition to her love for commercial cinema.
The Nirbhaya case, a horrific gang rape incident that occurred in India in 2012, particularly affected Raveena, and motivated her to work on Maatr. The movie highlights the issue of violence against women and aims to create awareness about women's rights.
She will soon be seen in the upcoming romantic-comedy film Ghudchadi, in which she stars alongside Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthan, and Khushali Kumar. Additionally, she has another film in the pipeline called Patna Shukla.
