In this exclusive and candid conversation with India Forums, debutantes Rasha Thadani and her co-star Aaman Devgn share their experiences, excitement, and behind-the-scenes moments from their upcoming film Azaad. They delve into their challenges, personal growth, and the journey of making their first film. Here's what they had to say:
Q: How are you coping with all the excitement and sleepless nights ahead of your big debut?
Rasha: Honestly, I haven’t slept much because of all the work during the day. When I get home, there’s this thrill of reflecting on everything we’ve accomplished, which keeps me awake. By the time I sleep, it’s already time to wake up. But this exhaustion feels like a blessing. It’s exciting, and I hope to always have this kind of tiredness in my life.
The song 'Ui Amma' from your movie is trending all over the internet! What was your experience filming it? Were there challenges?
Rasha: It was such a fun experience! Dancing has always been something I enjoy, and this song was no different. Bosco sir, Alisha sah, and their team made it such an enriching process. They are so talented that you naturally pick up things from them. Honestly, I think 80% of the credit goes to them and the rest to the film team. I was just a small part of it, but I had the best time shooting it.
The trailer shows you very comfortable riding a horse, which is no small feat. How did you prepare for that?
Aaman: When I first met the horse, it was an emotional moment—I even had tears in my eyes. I knew building a connection with him was essential. We went through energy workshops to understand his body language, and I spent a lot of time bonding with him. From eating meals together to even cleaning up after him, I did it all to ensure our scenes were seamless. This preparation made improvising during the scenes much easier when the horse had its own moments.

Aaman: Every beginning comes with its own challenges. For us, the biggest hurdle was stepping into characters so different from ourselves—especially since we’re from Mumbai and the film’s setting is far removed from our reality. The preparation involved dialect classes and ensuring the characters were authentic.
Rasha: I agree. We had immense support from our families and the film’s team, including director Abhishek Kapoor and producer Pragya ma’am. They made us feel encouraged and gave us the confidence to bring our best to the screen.
Q: Your chemistry in the trailer is impressive. What do you admire, dislike, and tolerate about each other?
Rasha: What I love about him is his clean heart and how he always tries to do the right thing. He ensures everyone around him feels respected and loved. What I dislike is his “PJs” (poor jokes), and as for what I tolerate—let’s just say there’s a long list!
Aaman: What I love about her is her inherent positivity and how she genuinely wishes well for everyone. If I’m ever feeling low, she has this energy that can lift my mood—something that reminds me of my mom. What I dislike is how much she teases me! She pulls my leg so much, sometimes unnecessarily.
This dynamic duo’s passion, dedication, and humor shine through as they gear up for their debut. With such camaraderie and commitment, they are poised to make an unforgettable mark on the silver screen!
Set against the backdrop of 1920s India, Azaad, directed by the visionary Abhishek Kapoor, takes audiences on an emotional and inspiring journey. The film tells the story of a young stable boy who forges an extraordinary bond with a spirited horse. As rebellion brews and oppression tightens its grip, the boy’s simple dream of riding the horse evolves into a courageous quest. Through this journey, he not only discovers his own strength but also awakens to the larger fight for India’s independence. The film is all set to hit the big screens on 17th January 2025.
