Ranveer Allahbadia's deleted post 'Pakistani Brothers' angers netizens; did he just commit another faux pass?

Yesterday, Ranveer Allahbadia made a video praising the Indian Armed Forces and warning the ISI. As we know, India – Pakistan forces have called for a ceasefire. It was violated within hours as heavy shelling was experienced in Jammu and Kashmir. As soon as he posted the video, netizens dug up his old Instagram post where he addressed his Pakistani Brothers and sisters. He has apologized to those who feel that India is spreading hate. Ranveer also said that media of both countries is lying. In the post, he also said that India is against the state sponsored terrorism of Pakistan.

Given the current situation, Indians are livid at him. After his crass joke on India’s Got Latent, he disappeared for some time from all social media. He was also summoned by the cops. Then, he made a comeback with spiritual gurus like Guru Nidar Singh who spoke about Khalsa connection with Shiva. Then, he got Rasraj Ji Maharaj on his show. In this fight with Pakistan, we saw how worried Indians were about the safety of places like Maa Vaishno Devi and Harmandir Sahib. People have started to wonder if his decision to bring in spiritual leaders rooted in deep Indian philosophy is nothing but aiming for wider reach.

In the past two years, we have seen numerous spiritual leaders, politicians and even army generals on his podcast. His content was aligned with the image of new India, which is aiming for growth economically and spiritually. Dr Jaishankar, Army veteran GD Bakshi, Nitin Gadkari are some of the stalwarts who have come on his show.

However, for someone who made millions out of content centered around India, his now deleted post has come across as borderline offensive. There were many who gave Ranveer the benefit of doubt after the India’s Got Latent episode saying he might have got swayed away with the nature of the comedy show.
