Randeep Hooda Joins John Cena in Hollywood Action Film 'Matchbox'

Bollywood star Randeep Hooda is making waves with his Hollywood ventures once again! The actor is set to star alongside John Cena in the highly-anticipated action film Matchbox, directed by Sam Hargrave. Hooda had previously collaborated with Hargrave in the Netflix blockbuster Extraction (2020), where his role as Saju was widely appreciated.

Matchbox is inspired by Mattel’s iconic toy car line, which originated in 1953. The live-action film promises a globetrotting adventure filled with thrilling action. The story follows a group of childhood friends who reunite to stop an impending global catastrophe while rediscovering their friendship.

Joining Hooda and Cena are Hollywood stars Teyonah Parris (The Marvels), Jessica Biel, and Sam Richardson. The film is produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance, alongside Robbie Brenner of Mattel Films. Hargrave, known for his work on Extraction and as a stunt coordinator for films like Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Ragnarok, directs this exciting project.

Randeep Hooda’s Hollywood Journey

Randeep Hooda first entered Hollywood with Extraction, sharing the screen with Chris Hemsworth. His return with Matchbox under Hargrave’s direction has raised expectations among fans worldwide. Filming began in Budapest in January 2025, with additional shoots planned in Slovakia and Los Angeles.
