Contrary to expectations, Ram Charan and Jr. NTR did not appear to perform live to Naatu Naatu from their movie RRR at the 95th Academy Awards last month. Naatu Naatu was played at the Oscars because, according to an earlier report, the actors "didn't feel comfortable performing" it; instead, a dance troupe did so. Ram has previously stated that he was awaiting a call for the same and "was ready" when questioned about why he did not dance to Naatu Naatu at the Oscars.

Talking about it at the India Today Conclave 2023 Ram Charan said,

"I was ready, I was 100 percent ready to get that call but I truly don't know what happened. But let's not talk about it because the troupe who did it there, they were fantastic and they did a better job than us."

He further mentioned tha he had done it many times in various settings, including interviews and awards ceremonies. Therefore, it is now up to them to unwind, enjoy the performance, and watch someone else shine for India. They have brought us to the (Oscars) carpet; thus, in his opinion, it is no longer their song but India's and the junta's.

Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava performed live renditions of Naatu Naatu during the Oscars event in March. Actor Deepika Padukone introduced the performance.

The first song from an Indian production to win an Oscar was RRR's Naatu Naatu. RRR by SS Rajamouli is a fictional tale set in the pre-independence era of the 1920s that is based on the lives of two notable revolutionaries and true heroes, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
