Rakesh Roshan Steps Back from Directing Krrish 4, Says It’s Time for a New Vision

Rakesh Roshan confirms he won’t direct Krrish 4, stating it's time for a fresh perspective while Hrithik Roshan continues the legacy.

Rakesh Roshan has officially confirmed that he will not be directing Krrish 4, marking a major shift in the beloved superhero franchise. Fans have been eagerly waiting for an update on the fourth installment, and now the veteran filmmaker has made it clear that he is ready to step aside and let a new director take charge.

In a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama, Roshan spoke openly about his decision, saying, “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. It’s better I do it when I’m in my senses, so I can overlook the process and ascertain whether it’s being done correctly. Tomorrow, if I’m not in my senses and I have to pass it on, I won’t know what they’re making.”

Despite stepping back, Roshan has no regrets. He further added, “That chance we have to take. Also, there’s no guarantee that if Rakesh Roshan directs Krrish 4, it’ll be a blockbuster. It might be the other way round as well.”

The Krrish series, which began with Koi Mil Gaya in 2003, followed by Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013), has been a landmark in Indian superhero films. However, over a decade later, Krrish 4 has faced several roadblocks, including budget constraints and shifting audience preferences.

Initially, Siddharth Anand was attached as a producer, tasked with securing a studio willing to back the massive Rs 700 crore project. However, with the global superhero landscape evolving post-Marvel’s dominance, Anand and director Karan Malhotra reportedly decided to step away.

Now, industry sources reveal that Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan are actively in discussions with multiple studios under FilmKraft Productions. A fresh creative team is expected to take over, reworking the script and budget before production officially begins.

While some reports claim the Rs 700 crore budget is exaggerated, insiders confirm that both Anand and Malhotra are no longer involved. Despite these changes, the Roshans remain committed to keeping Krrish alive, ensuring the franchise returns in a bigger and better way.
