Rajan Shahi to finalise the cast before writing the script!

Rajan Shahi of Director's Kut Productions who has always introduced new comers in his shows like Bidaai, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Swarg is all set to start a romantic story based show with new talent. 

After having introduced Parul Chauhan, Sara Khan, Angad Hasija, Kinshuk Mahajan, Hina Khan, Karan Mehra, Nikhil Chadda, Dheeraj Dhooper, Neha Sargam, Ankur Verma, Abhishek Tewari, this time he is going to finalise the leads who will be newcomers, before starting to write the script for the show. We talk to him about the same...

Tell us something about the latest project that you are working on.

The new project which I am working on is going to be a new love story. I have the characters in mind and I have already discussed this with the channel. They liked it and asked me to go ahead with it. This time I decided to first cast the main leads – the girl and the boy. The writers will start writing according to the characters who will get selected to make it very real for them. The characters should suit the personality of the actors.

This is the first time that you will be developing the script after finalizing the protagonists for your new show. What is the reason behind this?

After Balaji, I think Director's Kut Productions' is the production house which has given maximum number of new talents to the industry. I always focus on getting fresh talent and our industry is a place where new talent is appreciated. While it is hard to introduce new talent it becomes difficult for the new comers too to make a mark in this industry. I feel proud to see the kind of fame and recognition the new comers get overnight because of their hard work and talent.

What kind of qualities you are looking for in the protagonists?

They must connect with their character apart from being good looking. They need not be that much good looking but they must have a personality on camera. Only good looks cannot make anyone an actor. An actor has to go through the process of getting polished as an actor. In association with an acting academy, I will be doing a series of workshops with the new comers. I am very proud and happy that all the actors launched by Director's Kut have made their mark in the industry. They all are like brand ambassadors for Director's Kut Productions.

How far you have reached in your search?

We have started spreading the word around. I will seriously start looking for new talent in the coming weeks. I will be organizing few workshops with them and I am planning to finalise it by the end of July or August. I am also looking forward to work with a new team in the form of writers, actors and musicians.

What's going to be the main theme of your new story? How different is your love story going to be from the other love stories?

I want to work with new texture and new visuals. The Bollywood kind of love stories are over saturated on television now. Our promos, presentations and the characters are borrowed a lot from films. Kuch Toh Log Kahenge was an adoption of a Pakistani series but Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai both have fresh sets ups. Yeh Rishta doesn't have any negative character and negative drama. The same way, I want to create a new format for my new show.

Are you looking for some known faces too for your new show?

Yes, we will definitely be having some known faces in the cast just like Bidaai. It's going to be a combination of fresh and known faces.
