Raise Toast to National Lipstick Day With These Two Series- ‘Lipstick’ and ‘Lipstick Jungle’

Beauty buffs across the world celebrate National Lipstick Day on 29th July. The annual celebration honors one of the beauty industry’s oldest and most beloved cosmetic products i.e. lipsticks.

Lipsticks have always been an integral part of makeup routines. A little lipstick can instantly glam up your boring everyday look and make you look like a diva. Whether designer or simply drugstore dupes, lipsticks are always on our shopping lists, right ladies? 

While you must have read articles on various shades of lipsticks, lipstick hacks and what not, we present you a little trivia on TV series named after Lipsticks- ‘Lipstick’ and ‘Lipstick Jungle’. 

Zee TV show Lipstick:

Little do people know that there was a TV series named Lipstick that used to air on Zee TV back in 2002. Produced by Rose movies, the show revolved around how two best friends turn enemies in the pursuit of love and success. Featuring some really big names of TV such as Shweta Salve, Gautami Kapoor, Nigaar Khan and Krutika Desai, the story revolves around two women: Sheetal and Suniti. The show starts with a competition between two publication houses- UPC and Hands. Their film magazines called ‘Darpan’ and ‘Lipstick’  are run by Sheetal and Suniti respectively. While Suniti believes in giving only true stories, Sheetal fabricates and sensationalizes stories to get more readership. 

Though, the show was not a huge hit, it was certainly well made and was ahead of its time in terms of the narrative.

NBC show Lipstick Jungle:

An American comedy drama series created by DeAnne Heline and Eileen Heisler for NBC, Lipstick Jungle was based on a novel by the same name by Candace Bushnell. The show revolved around professional and personal lives of three best friends, who are all on the top of their careers. Victory Ford is a fashion designer, Nico Reilly is the editor-in-chief of a magazine and Wendy Healy is a former president of Parador Pictures. All three of them are super supportive of each other and help each other in every phase of their lives.
