"Working for daily soaps is very hectic and after a while it gets pakau", Sumeet Vyas

Sumeet Vyas, has been seen in films like English Vinglish, Guddu Ki Gun, Kajarya and TV soaps like Rehna Hai Teri Palkon ki Chaaon Mein and a number of advertisements. But the actor is most known for his web show Permanent roommates. We spoke to Sumeet about the upcoming season of his show and a few things here and there. Check it out!

From movies to daily soaps to ads and now Permanent Roommates, what kind of change has this transition bought in your life?

It has given me access to a new set of audience for sure! The shows I have done before had a different target audience and thanks to the Permanent Roommates, I have been introduced to a set of audience ranging from 15 - 25 year olds. Basically youngsters.

TVF is known for their excellence in web series, how was the experience working with these creative minds?

It is a very democratic setup. I have grown up doing theatre. In theatre everyone works as a group. No one takes up tasks individually. We all discuss and do what has to be done. It is not a single person working but it's a group effort. Same is the case with TVF. It was fun to work with these guys.

Indian television is now being ruled by Naagins, Daayans and all kinds of supernatural creatures. If offered such a role, would you take it up?

Playing a Vampire would be cool. But I won't play such a role! Indian TV is regressive. I have worked in daily soaps before and it's very hectic. After a while it gets Pakau!

You have written a web series called Bang Baaja Baarat in collaboration with Anand Tiwari. As a writer what changes would you like to be seen in the Television industry?

The television industry needs to respect writers. Indian television doesn't pay much attention to writers and that is probably the reason why they have such irrelevant content on TV. If writers get the respect that they deserve, they will definitely put up much better content!

Netflix has come to India. Would you be interested in creating content for Netflix?

Absolutely! I would love to work with Netflix. I wish they contact me for some content. I follow Netflix and they have a huge database. It would be a great opportunity for me!
