The Rebel Kid aka Apoorva Mukhija became a standout contestant on Karan Johar's reality show, The Traitors, earning praise for her entertainment value. However, she faced criticism from some co-contestants regarding her conduct. Sudhanshu Pandey, for instance, took issue with her informal address of Ashish Vidyarthi. Jasmin Bhasin labeled her behavior as "badtameez," rather than simply outspoken. Amidst the critiques, Purav Jha, who developed a positive relationship with Apoorva during the show, offered his support. He highlighted her "bold" personality, suggesting that her audience appreciates this aspect of her character.

During an interview with Filmygyan, Purav Jha responded to Jasmin's comment about Apoorva, calling her badtameez. "Har insaan ka ek character hai. Har koi same nahi ho sakta. Theek hai yaar. Apoorva ka ek bold character hai. Apoorva ki janta bohot pasand karti hai us cheez ko. Ab uski janta ko hi ye pasand hai toh uski kya galti hai? (Every person has their own personality. No one can be the same, and that’s okay. Apoorva has a bold personality, and her audience really likes that about her. Now if her audience enjoys it, then how is it her fault?)."

He also acknowledged that Apoorva could be more considerate, particularly when interacting with those older than her. “But I think in a show where everyone knows each other…It’s not like Apoorva is out on the street yelling and abusing at strangers. The environment there was already very toxic, with everyone blaming each other. Apoorva tends to take it more seriously, thinking, ‘Now that we understand each other, you should be able to hear me out.’ That’s just her bold nature," he said.

However, he disagreed with the characterization of Apoorva Mukhija as "badtameez." He suggested that she should strike a balance, catering to her audience while also ensuring that her words do not cause offense to others. “So you have to keep both sides on the same page. In my opinion, there needs to be a balance between the two," said Purav.
