A dialogue in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil hurt the Mohammed Rafi fans as allegedly insulted the legendary singer. Fans from cities like Mumbai, Nagpur and Delhi protested against the film whereas, in Goa, DGP asked to boycott Karan Johar's film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for its disrespectfulness towards Rafi ji.

In a report on popular web portal, Shahid Rafi was quoted saying," Fans from all over India have asked me if they could protest outside Karan Johar's house. Infact a couple of NGOs and a few fans also said that they would pelt stones at Karan's office and his house but I said please don't do this. These things couldn't be done by Rafi sahab as well. Also our family is not known for things like these so I stopped them." (sic)

When asked if he contacted Karan he answered that Karan Johar is the one who should contact not him!
