The Traitors: Did Karan Johar upset BFF Maheep Kapoor on the show? Nikita Luther's spills the fun details

Nikita Luther is one of the contestants of The Traitors, which is coming on Prime Video. She is top ranked poker player from India. This is the first time she is coming on a reality show. In an exclusive chat, she told us about her journey in this space of reality TV. “When the makers got in touch, they said we need a strategist amongst showbiz people. The whole show is about mind games and plays out like a psychological thriller. That really hooked me on,” says Nikita Luther.

The Delhi lady who was crowned as a global poker champ says she always felt reality TV was not her cup of tea. “I have built my reputation over a decade. I cannot go on shows where people abuse one another. That is not for me.” She further added that some contestants tried to create “that kind of drama” on Traitors, saying, “You know, the makers stopped them. They clearly said this is not what we are looking at. We need drama but this is a show of intelligence.”

Nikita Luther said Indian audience that consumes global content will like The Traitors. As per the lady, it is perfect for those bored with old-fashioned abusive brawls and physical fights on reality shows. Nikita said as a poker player she knows how to read people, but stay unreadable at the same time. “On the show, we have to find out who is a traitor as we try to save ourselves,” she stated. Nikita said it was tough as most of the contestants are actors. They are all good actors. “At the same time, poker has taught me about body language. I feel being underestimated is also a huge advantage,” she said.

Nikita Luther is all praise for Karan Johar, the host of The Traitors. She said, “He is completely different here. In normal settings, he is a very friendly guy cracking jokes. But here, he is a very strict and cold person.”

She said that Maheep Kapoor was bothered as Karan Johar did not say hi to her. It seems the makers told him to have an aloof stance, and he followed the memo to the hilt.

He did not make eye contact with her. She was so bothered by it. I mean they’re friends and have so much history but he did not even flinch a little. I feel I would give Karan’s acting as the cold host a solid 7.5/10.

She also said that Karan Johar juggled hosting the show and writing the story for a film. “He was too involved. He did take breaks go to the control room and find out what’s happening,” she states.
