Priyanshi Yadav & Ishaan Dhawan's Doree 2 under the scanner after Mannat & Ram Bhavan

Colors TV’s drama Doree 2, starring Priyanshi Yadav and Ishaan Dhawan, is reportedly facing heat from the channel owing to its consistently low performance on the TRP charts. According to our well-placed industry sources, the show is currently under scanner, and the makers have been given a clear ultimatum.

An insider exclusively reveals to us, “The makers of the show have received an ultimatum and are asked to either introduce a new character or change the storyline.” The pressure comes as part of the channel's strategy to revive viewership and keep up with the competitive television landscape.

A sequel to the original show Doree, which featured child actor Mahi Bhanushali in the lead, Doree 2 picked up from where the earlier story left off. While the first season managed to gain moderate traction with its emotional narrative centered around a young girl’s fight against social injustice, the sequel hasn’t been able to strike the same chord with the audience. Adding to the show’s rocky journey was the alleged controversial exit of actor Amar Upadhyay, who was previously associated with the project. While the exact details remain unclear, reports around creative differences and dissatisfaction with the screen time had surfaced during his exit.

Doree 2 isn’t the only Colors show currently under observation. Other shows like Ram Bhavan and Mannat have also reportedly been reviewed by the channel's programming team due to similar concerns over declining ratings. Earlier speaking to India Forums exclusively, Mannat male lead Adnan Khan had revealed receiving no such ultimatums from the channel and had stated that this was 'news' to him as well.

As of now, the makers of Doree 2 are said to be in discussions over possible narrative changes or the entry of a fresh character to inject new energy into the plot. Whether this revamp can turn things around remains to be seen, but fans of the original show are hoping the sequel finds its footing soon.
