Over the last few months, there has been speculation about the progress of Oh My God 2, which will star Pankaj Tripathi in the lead and reintroduce Akshay Kumar in the role of Lord Krishna. Reports also claim that Yami Gautam is the female lead in the highly anticipated Oh My God sequel. The social comedy goes on floors today with Pankaj Tripathi, which is currently being filmed in Mumbai.

A source told Bollywood Hungama,

Director Amit Rai commences shooting for the ambitious social comedy today in Mumbai with Pankaj Tripathi. The actor will be canning his solo sequences over the next few days and will be joined by Yami Gautam, who plays the female lead. Akshay Kumar will start his work in October.

Adding to it, the source further said,

Akshay has allotted 15 to 20 days for his track of Lord Krishna in Oh My God 2.

The creators have created a fun and quirky story centered on the three main characters, Akshay, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami. This would be Pankaj Tripathi's second collaboration with Akshay, as the two recently collaborated on the Sajid Nadiadwala production Bachchan Pandey, directed by Farhad Samji. The first act of Oh My God followed the hilarious journey of Paresh Rawal's atheist character, who was enraged after an earthquake destroyed his shop and decided to sue God in court.

The source also informed that

They are aware of the cult following of Oh My God and have been working for last decade to get the script right to take the story forward. They amicably decided on the sequel only on being satisfied that the script was better than the first part. The treatment and subject will surprise the audience.

Talking about work, Pankaj Tripathi was last seen in the film Mimi. The talented actor will next be seen in Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's cricket drama 83. In Bachchan Pandey, he will also appear alongside Akshay Kumar.
