'Panchi is my dream role' - Vahbbiz Dorabjee

Vahbbiz Dorabjee who is currently seen as Panchi on Ekta Kapoor's Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani on Star One is one of the few Parsi actresses around and is a girl who speaks her heart out in an exclusive interview with TellyBuzz.
 
Which was the most struggling part of your life?
Well, for me my modelling days were most difficult and I had to struggle a lot during those days. I was based in Pune then and when I was still in college, a modelling agency signed me. At that point of time I used to face a lot of trouble because the auditions used to be in Mumbai and I had to catch a bus to come to Mumbai and then in the evening again to return to Pune. This used to be really tiring and at that point of time I never had a home in Mumbai, so I always had to return Pune. In fact I have also slept at a lodge in those days, thus I would say that those were the real struggling period of my career.
 
Tell us something about your nature…
I am a positive, fun loving girl who believes in one thing, Live and Let Live. I am bubbly by nature and feel that we just have one life, so I take it as it comes and enjoy every moment of it. Touchwood, I am pretty content in life with what God has given me and am happy the way I am. I am an absolute extremist, I am very nice to people but if someone rubs me the wrong way, I am really bad. I have no malice for anyone in my heart but only when people do wrong, I give it back to them. I am very strong headed as a person.
 
One thing you want to change about yourself?
I am a very defensive person and can be blunt at times. As I said I am an extremist so there is no middle way for me, either I am good or bad and whatever I say is straight from my heart. I am happy the way I am but everyone feels that I should tone down a bit and sometimes I too feel the same.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Five years, I never plan, as the famous saying goes, 'If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans'. So, I have stopped planning and take life as it comes. Of course, I want to flourish in my acting career and want to do films. I want to do strong roles in films, the likes played by Konkona Sen Sharma, Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan. I am not comfortable exposing and would rather prefer a performance oriented role.

Tell us something about your best friend and about your friendship?
Hmm… I have two really good friends and co-incidentally they also are Parsis and I am really happy to have Parsi friends as initially I never had any. My first friend is Hufriya who also is a model and we connected from the first day we met. When we met for the first time, it felt as if we knew each other since ages. She is really caring and protective of me just like my mom. She has this quality to sit and listen calmly to all my issues and problems, whereas I am short-tempered. She always calms me down and solves my issues. My other friend is Kashmira Irani; of course everyone would be knowing her as she too is a TV actress. She and I are real life Amber- Dhara. Currently, she is in Delhi as she is doing a play with Hussain. We both are always together and have the same likes and dislikes.

Your best feature?
I think my eyes and my smile, especially eyes as whatever I am feeling reflects in them so vividly.
 
Your good luck charm?
My parents, because without them I wouldn't be anywhere and without their support wouldn't have achieved this success. My Sai Baba ring too, as I always wear it and whenever I forget to wear, I feel that something wrong will happen and my day won't be good.
 
For you acting is?
Hmm... for me acting is passion.
 
Your dream role?.
All the roles played by Konkona Sen Sharma, I can see myself doing that kind of work. I believe in quality rather than quantity.
 
What were the landmarks of your career?
In modelling, the Samsung ad is the landmark as there were my hoardings all over India and that got me rolling. I got more ads after this as people now recognized me and Samsung ad certainly was the turning point of my life. In acting I would say that Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani is my landmark and I really would like to thank Ekta mam for giving me this role.
 
How much do you relate to your character in Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani?
I relate to my character of Panchi quite a lot. We both are today's girls, very strong with Indian values and culture inculcated. I am very much like Panchi but the major difference is the style part and I have a totally different taste of fashion when compared to Panchi in the show.
 
Is there a dream role that you want to do?
As of now I would say Panchi is my dream role because I always used to play a character of a young girl and not of a typical bahu.  In fact I can't see myself doing the saas-bahu sagas, I even doubt if I will be able to fit in it.
 
What are your future plans?
As I said I don't plan my future but surely I would like to do movies. Also, many people have said that I have good PR skills and can open a PR agency. I have worked on a few events and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. So, you never know in future, I might just start up a PR company.
