MX Player Cheesecake: We Had Expected A 'Decadent' Cheesecake Instead We Got A 'Simple' One!

Don’t we all just love stories where dogs drive the narrative and play the main protagonist? We live in a world where human love dogs more than their species. One such story is MX Player’s upcoming series, Cheesecake. Created by TVF, starring Jitendra Kumar and Akanksha Thakur as the lead pair, Cheesecake is a five-episodic mini-series that explores what happens when a furry stranger comes in the life of an unhappy married couple. 

Plot:

Neel (Jitendra) and Sameera (Akanksha) are married for three years yet are very unhappy, not just with each other but with their careers too. They hardly talk to each other about things and romance is dead between them. They blame their respective careers for their ending romance, but clearly it’s their lack of interest. One day, Sameera meets a golden retriever in a club and it follows her till home. As the story progresses, the dog, who they name as Cheesecake, helps the couple revive their love and romance and because of it they spend quality time together. 

Performances:

Jitendra and Akanksha are stars of TVF and we have seen them as a couple a lot of times on screen so their sizzling on screen chemistry is not something new. Both of them are very talented and natural and their reunion somewhat raised our expectations from the series. 

Screenplay & Writing:

Well, an adorable golden retriever is the protagonist of the show, what more do we need. All the pet lovers and owners will relate to the story and love all the cute instances in the show, but that’s about it. There is nothing new and unique about the show. 

Verdict:

If you’re a pet lover, you can watch this one. As it’s a mini-series, which was a good decision by makers to not stretch it, you can binge watch it anytime. However, the series does not really match the level of content that TVF has earlier created.
