Mukesh Khanna reacts to backlash regarding his remarks about Sonakshi Sinha's upbringing

After receiving a befitting response from Sonakshi Sinha and her dad Shatrughan Sinha over his remarks, Mukesh Khanna has came out to clarify his statement. Earlier, Mukesh blamed Sonakshi Sinha's dad, Shatrughan Sinha, for her not knowing the Ramayana answer on Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2019. She clapped back at him with a post. In a recent interview, the veteran actor addressed Sonakshi's response, clarifying that he had "no malicious intention to malign her or her father, who is my senior, and I have a very cordial relationship with him."

Mukesh Khanna, in a recent interview with News9, shared his surprise at the delayed response from Sonakshi Sinha regarding his comments. He acknowledged that when he referenced her in connection to the Kaun Banega Crorepati incident, he was aware it might upset her. However, he emphasized that his intention was never to defame her or her father, Shatrughan Sinha, with whom he maintains a cordial relationship.

Adding on, Mukesh elaborated that his aim was to address the habits of the current generation, often labeled as 'Gen Z,' who he feels excessively depend on technology, relying on sources like Wikipedia and YouTube for knowledge. He clarified that he cited Sonakshi's incident as a case in point to convey a more extensive message aimed at educating individuals, encompassing fathers, sons, and daughters.

Back in 2019, Sonakshi was on Kaun Banega Crorepati and had to use a lifeline for a question about Hanuman. In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Mukesh also took a jab at Shatrughan Sinha for not schooling his daughter on the Ramayana.

Sonakshi Sinha penned a note stating that two other women also didn't know the answer to the same question but went unnoticed. She explained she had a momentary lapse and forgot the answer. Criticizing Khanna, she remarked that his actions don't align with the teachings of Lord Rama. She emphasized that she doesn't feel the need to apologize for her lapse on Kaun Banega Crorepati, mentioning that the situation has been blown out of proportion. Shatrughan Sinha expressed how incidents like these have affected his mood post a great 2024. He mentioned feeling joyful seeing the love Zaheer Iqbal has for his daughter, Poonam. As a father, he finds solace in knowing his daughter is with someone she loves.

Following Sonakshi's response, Shatrughan Sinha mentioned that he's not in the mood to entertain those who just want to stir up trouble. He emphasized that neither his family nor himself feel the need to justify anything to anyone. Subsequently, Mukesh Khanna clarified that his intention wasn't to defame Shatrughan Sinha or Sonakshi; he used it as a significant example. He expressed his belief that the responsibility of preserving our Indian heritage should lie with the parents of Gen-Z children.
