Mujhse Fraandship Karoge Review A must-watch for the youth!

Gone are the Maine Pyaar Kiya days where Salman Khan and Bhagyashree would have to use the help of a bird for communication. Internet has revolutionized the world as we know it today. Social networking has become one of the biggest phenomena's ever witnessed among the youth. Facebook itself is said to have over 500 million users.

Yash Raj Films is known to make some of Bollywood's most beautiful love stories. From Silsila and Kabhi Kabhi to Diwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Fanaa; no one presents love better than Yash Raj Films. After Luv Ka The End, Yash Raj Films' new youth films division, Y-Films' Production is ready with its next product Mujhse Fraandship Karoge – a romantic-comedy against the backdrop of social networking.

If Rahul - the rock star has got the voice and the looks, then Vishal - the writer has the brains. If Malvika - the fashion design student and biker chick can get heads turning with just her looks, then Preity - the photographer, can say a million things with her pretty pictures. What Vishal and Preity can't do, is spelling it out to Malvika and Rahul that they like them.  But 'Liking' someone on Face book is a lot easier. And when you can't make it on your own, the best thing to do is to fake it. So, Vishal becomes Rahul and Preity becomes Malvika by taking their identities online and start fraaandshipping each other. They chat, 'like', tag and LOL together and do a great job of pretending to be someone else. But, the question remains, how long can you fake true love? In short, Rahul loves Malvika. And Malvika loves Rahul. But Rahul is not Rahul. Rahul is Vishal. And Vishal loves Malvika too. But Malvika is not Malvika either. Malvika is Preity. And Preity loves Rahul. But Preity hates Vishal. And Vishal hates Preity. Screwed up love story, isn't it?!

The core reason Mujhse Fraandship Karoge works is because of its topic. The social networking aspect of the story works big time! It not only makes the film an interesting watch, but also makes it extremely relatable with the youth. Expectedly, the overall feel of the film is extremely young, funky and peppy. Everything seems to be straight out of life. From the lingo to the display of emotions, it all looks extremely natural and not over-the-top. Also, being an absolute necessity for a youth film, the movie is extremely fast paced. At no point does it drag. The film has you in splits most of the times. Watch out for the very first scene where a fat friend indulges into cyber sex. It's hilarious! However, on the flipside, the pre-climax scene seems to be hurried. Even the climax seems to be typically Bollywoodish, however, it's too cute to complain about. The film does also get predictable at places, however, which love story doesn't?

Director Nupur Asthana, director of popular youth shows like Hip Hip Hurray and Mahi Way, scores on the big screen this time. She succeeds in capturing the soul of the youth with this film. The screenplay by Anvita Dutt Guptan is perfectly tight and crisp. The dialogues by her are also brilliant. In fact, the lingo used in the film is one of the most refreshing aspects. Pooja Desai and Ashish Patil come up with an interesting script, doing full justice to the 'digital' aspect of this film. Also, sound by Indrajit Neogi and Manas Chaudhary is extremely peppy and young helping in maintaining the audience's interest. Moving on to the performances, Saqib Saleem is terrific. It's hard to believe this is his first film. He gets his craft perfectly right. Absolutely brilliant! Saba Azad is also equally competent. Her unconventional looks not only make her look extremely natural in front of the camera, but is also a refreshing change compared to the usual plastic beauties. In fact, the film works because of this lead pair. The chemistry between Saqib and Sana is sparkling! Nishant Dahiya gives in a perfect performance. Though, his role doesn't really require him to show histrionics. It's the same case with Tara D'souza. Nevertheless, she's decent in her bit too. However, it's Prabal (Saqib's friend) who brings the house down! He's undoubtedly one of the best things to have happened to this movie. Look out for the scene where he imitates to be Malvika, absolutely hilarious!

Overall, Mujhse Fraandship Karoge is a must-watch for the youth! Don't miss it!
