Model turned actor Vimarsh Roshan makes television debut with Bidaai.

Vimarsh Roshan has various accolades to his name and is all set to add yet another one with his debut on television in Rajan Shahi’s Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai. The handsome hunk is a model turned actor seen in the top 6 of Grasim Mr. and on silver screen in J.P Dutta’s Umrao Jaan playing the role of Umrao’s brother, Jumaal.

In Bidaai, Vimarsh will be seen essaying a negative shade in the character of Naveen Rajvansh. So what is the character all about? “It is a lead role but negative”, says Vimarsh. He continues, “I play the role of Naveen who is very ambitious and business minded yet sly. His aunt and uncle are quite dominating in the family because of which he wants to take over the business. All in all he is the bad guy in the serial.”

After modeling and films what made you turn to television? “It wasn’t something I did intentionally”, replies Vimarsh, “I got an offer and thought it was a great opportunity to be part of a top rated show like Bidaai, hence I took it up. For me it doesn’t matter if I am on the silver screen or in television.” And as your debut role on television what made you take up a negative role? “The shade of the character is not important”, he claims, “what is important is that the actor makes a mark on the audience with his character. I have seen a lot of actors who have played negative roles and are immensely loved by the viewers. I aim to achieve the same.”

And does the story on Bidaai evolve with his entry into the show? “I am not at the liberty to divulge all the script details at this point. But all I can say is that, the two protagonists, Ragini and Sadhna are entering my family through marriage and though Naveen is shown as a nice guy initially, he starts misbehaving, mainly with Sadhna, as time passes by and his true colors are revealed”, replies a hesitant Vimarsh.

How did it feel sharing screen space with Bollywood’s Beauty, Aishwarya Rai in Umrao Jaan and working under the direction of J.P Dutta? “Oh that was a one of a kind experience. I was completely amazed and taken aback with Aishwarya’s humility and simple nature. And it was great working under J.P Dutta. I was apprehensive at first as I had heard that he was very strict but he made me feel very comfortable”, says Vimarsh.

And what plans does the actor have for the future? Vimarsh laughs and says, “I know it is a very hackneyed answer but everyone dreams of being on the silver screen in the end. I have the same dream. There is more scope and greater satisfaction on the silver screen.”
