Manoj Muntashir to take legal action on Sky Force makers

Lyricist-screenwriter Manoj Muntashir has expressed his frustration after being excluded from the credits of the upcoming song Maaye from the film Sky Force. In a fiery tweet, Manoj called out the makers, Jio Studios, Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, and Saregama Global, accusing them of disrespecting his contribution. The teaser for the song, sung by B Praak and composed by Tanishk Bagchi, was shared on social media, but Manoj’s name was missing from the credits, despite his role as the lyricist.

Taking to X, Manoj voiced his disappointment. He stated, “Removing the writer’s name from the opening credits is an outright insult to the craft and those who work tirelessly in the industry.” He warned that if his name was not included in the full song release, he would pursue legal action. He also vowed to disown the song if the issue wasn’t addressed, emphasizing the need for respect for writers in the creative process.

The song Maaye is described as a tribute to the brave soldiers of India and serves as the anthem for Sky Force, a high-octane patriotic thriller set to release on January 24, 2025, ahead of Republic Day. The film, starring Akshay Kumar as an Indian Air Force officer, follows a gripping story of valor and vengeance. The cast also includes debutant Veer Pahariya as a fellow officer and Sara Ali Khan as his on-screen wife, with Nimrat Kaur playing a significant role.

Manoj Muntashir is no stranger to success, having penned some of Bollywood’s most iconic songs, including Teri Mitti from Kesari and Galliyan from Ek Villain. However, the credit controversy surrounding Maaye has left him feeling betrayed by the industry he has passionately served.

Sky Force is directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur and aims to deliver a powerful story of courage and sacrifice. The film is all set to hit the big screens on 24th January 2025.
