Manoj Bajpayee has been cast in filmmaker Devashish Makhija's horror flick 'Joram,' according to the film's producers on Tuesday. 'Joram' reunites Bajpayee and Makhija, who previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed short 'Tandav' and the 2020 feature 'Bhonsle,' for which the 'The Family Man' star received the National Award for best actor.

Anupama Bose and the filmmaker directed the film, which is set in Jharkhand and Mumbai.

The film depicts a widowed father who must journey across half of the country with his little daughter to escape the ghosts of his past and the forces intent to see him dead at any cost, according to the official synopsis. Bajpayee praised the film, calling it a "big challenge" that will allow him to "push the edge even farther."

Collaborating with like-minded producers and a filmmaker with Devashish's vision is both exciting and fulfilling.

Our collaborations with Devashish on two occasions have been magical, and I feel our joint endeavour 'Joram' will go far beyond where we left off," the 52-year-old actor said.

'Joram,' according to Makhija, is a rare attempt to address a worldwide issue "via a wonderful, dramatic action film."

Production on the project is set to begin in late April.
