#MakarSankranti Special: Remembering 'Patang Kumar' from Sarabhai V/S Sarabhai

It's been 14 years, since Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai's first episode aired on television! It's seems like yesterday, we were watching the show. 

How time flies!

Today is Makar Sankranti- the kite festival, celebrated widely with great joy and love in different parts of India. Sankrant, as we all know, is famous for sweets (Jaggery) and kites. And kite, reminds us of the character Patang Kumar from Star One's popular sitcom Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. Actor Aamir Ali Malik made a cameo in one of the episodes as Patang Kumar.

In the show, Monisha (Rupali Ganguly) was a middle class woman who was obsessed with sale, discounts, freebies and daily soaps. She was mad about the show Uska Pati Sirf Mera Hai' and in one of the episodes, she bumps into the hero of her favorite show, Patang Kumar. When Maya asked him that why his name is Patang in the serial, he reveals that he suggested the makers to keep his name Patang, as his character kept 'flying' among his three wives in the serial.

And guess what? His daughter's name was Kanni (tail of the kite). 

Can't stop laughing? 

Wait...there's more, Patang believed, he played the most challenging role, as he had to shave off his beard after his reincarnation in the serial.

Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai was an iconic show that brought laugh riots in our homes, some shows, even after going off-air, leave their mark and Sarabhai was one such show which made a place from our television screens to our hearts.
