Mahesh Babu's father, South superstar Krishna passes away at 79

Superstar Krishna, a legendary figure in Tollywood, died this morning at around 4 AM. He was 79 years old. At a private hospital in Hyderabad, the renowned actor and Mahesh Babu's father experienced cardiac arrest and passed away.

After the cardiac arrest, he was receiving care from a multi-specialty group of medical professionals. Tuesday around 4 a.m., according to hospital sources, the actor passed away. The Ghattamaneni family, who are enduring back-to-back difficult times, as well as the Telugu cinema industry, have been deeply affected by the terrible news.

One of the top actors of his era, Mr. Krishna, originally known as Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, appeared in 350 films. In addition, he found success as a producer and director. In 2009, he received the Padma Bhushan award.

Additionally, Mr. Krishna was the father-in-law of TDP leader Jay Galla.  After the passing of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he left politics after joining the Congress and becoming an MP in the 1980s.

Indira Devi, his wife and the mother of Mahesh Babu, passed away in September of this year. Ramesh Babu, his eldest son, passed away in January. His second wife, the actress Vijaya Nirmala, had passed away in 2019.

Fans are using the hashtag #RIPLegend on Twitter to express their sorrow over the passing of their idol, famous Telugu actor Krishna.  A number of well-known actors from the film industry, including Chiranjeevi, Nani, Radhika Sarathkumar, and others, paid respect to the late actor and expressed their sympathies to Mahesh Babu on social media.
