Maharashtra Day is celebrated every year on 1st May to commemorate the formation of Maharashtra united with Mumbai on 1st May 1960. To celebrate the richness of the culture of the state, we bring to you top 5 shows on the Indian Television which showcases the beautiful backdrop of Marathi culture. 

1. Pavitra Bhagya: This Balaji Telefilms show which aired on Zee TV became a huge hit amongst the audience. It starred Ankita Lokhande, Sushant Singh Rajput, Hiten Tejwani, Asha Negi and Rithvik Dhanjani in the lead roles.The show was set against the backdrop of a Marathi family and the relation between Manav (Sushant) and Archana (Ankita) along with the various problems they deal with in their relationship.

2. Ek Mutthi Aasmaan-  The show showcased the issues and difficulties faced by a middle class family. It revolves around Kalpana who is a daughter of a maid and how she crosses path with Raghav, a rich businessesman. The show stars Rachana Parulkar, Ashish Chaudhary and Shilpa Shirodkar and it aired on Zee TV.

3. Bhakarwadi- This SAB TV show revolves around two neighbouring families with an entirely different cultural background. Where one family is Gujarati, the other is Mararashtrian. It revolves around the different idealogies, relations that the two family shares and how the complexity risens when their children fall in love.

4. Peshwa Bajirao- Peshwa Bajirao is an Indian historical series which aired on Sony TV revolving around the life of the Peshwa of the Mararha Empire, Bajirao I. It starred Karan suchak as Bajirao I and Ishita Ganguly as Kashibai.

5. Sarvagunn Sampanna- The show is set in Kolhapur and it revolves around the story of Swara who is a theatre dancer and the only child of her poor parents. It showcases how Swara deals with the stigmas of her profession. The show stars Puja Banerjee in the lead role and it aired on NDTV Imagine.
