Kumud Mishra was the first choice to play Dimple Kapadia's role in Pathaan: Reports

Siddharth Anand, the director of the current Shah Rukh Khan movie "Pathaan," recently said that actress Dimple Kapadia was originally not going to be in the movie and that Kumud Mishra's role was originally created for her. However, after seeing Christopher Nolan's "Tenet," Sid felt driven to put Dimple in the part and modify the character's gender.

Well recently the director said, that actually, Kumud Mishra was drafted for the part rather than Dimple Kapadia. But he happened to watch "Tenet" the evening before he was supposed to talk to Kumud Mishra. And Dimple was amazing in the movie. As a result, they changed the character's gender because he thought Shah Rukh would benefit from her warmth because of how well he interacts with women. She was able to take on the position, and  he is very happy that everything worked out..

He added that it was the first time he had intentionally created moments to prompt audience whistles. In addition, he discussed the well-known post-credit scene in which Salman Khan and SRK share a meta-moment.

He told Film Companion, that the first movie he produced with whistles and claps was called Pathaan. His earlier movies are much more subtly done; for example, one won't recall any speech from War. But in this case, everything came together to create a mass-appealing, commercial front-runner. There was applause on the set as Shah Rukh emerged from the shadows and said, "Zinda hai."

Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham have come together for the first time in Pathaan. The film is written and directed by Siddharth Anand and bankrolled by Yash Raj Films.
