Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand are set to collaborate once again following their successful stint with Pathaan. Their next project, King, is gearing up to be a large-scale action drama with an ensemble cast and a fresh cinematic approach. The film will feature Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, alongside Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma. Pre-production is already underway, with shooting expected to begin between May 18 and May 20 in Mumbai.

King is centered around Shah Rukh Khan’s character, an assassin, and will explore the complex world he operates in. The latest development reveals that Anil Kapoor has joined the cast in a pivotal role. He will be seen as the handler and mentor of Shah Rukh Khan’s character. The makers considered several names for this character before finalizing Kapoor, believing his presence brings the right balance of experience and screen energy to the narrative.

This marks a reunion for Anil Kapoor and Siddharth Anand after their last collaboration on Fighter. In King, Kapoor’s character will be central to the protagonist’s arc, guiding him through the film’s high-stakes world. The story has been written with a focus on theatrical sensibilities suited to current trends, combining slick action with an emotional undertone.

The film will be shot over approximately 100 days, with the initial schedule taking place in Mumbai and subsequent sequences planned across various European locations. King aims to hit the big screens sometime between October and December 2026, depending on production timelines.

The soundtrack will be composed by Sachin–Jigar, while Anirudh is onboard for the background score, promising a dynamic sonic experience to complement the visual storytelling. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone will be paired romantically, adding a compelling layer to the plot. With casting nearly complete, production is all set to begin, promising a fresh addition to the action genre anchored by a high-profile team.
