The buzz around Kesari Chapter 2 is increasing day by day. The historical courtroom drama, starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan, is all set to release soon. The film has now officially received its certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), getting an ‘A’ certificate, which means it is suitable only for adults.
According to the CBFC website, Kesari Chapter 2 was certified on April 9, 2025. The film has been granted an 'A (Adult)' rating and has a runtime of 135 minutes and 6 seconds — that’s 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 6 seconds of gripping drama.
This sequel focuses on the events after the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film highlights the legal battle that followed, shedding light on a significant part of Indian history. In the film, Akshay Kumar steps into the powerful role of lawyer C. Sankaran Nair. Ananya Panday plays Dilreet Gill, while R. Madhavan portrays Neville Mckinley. British actor Simon Paisley Day takes on the role of the infamous General Reginald Dyer.
The trailer has already received praise from fans and critics alike. It shows intense court scenes, powerful dialogues, and a strong portrayal of resistance through the legal system. Today, Akshay Kumar shared a striking poster from the film on Instagram, where he’s seen wearing a traditional Kathakali costume. His caption read,
“This is not a costume. It’s a symbol — of tradition, of resistance, of truth, of my nation. C. Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon. He fought the British Empire with the law — and with fire in his soul.”
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The film is backed by top producers including Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres on April 18, 2025. Get ready for a hard-hitting story that blends history, law, and the spirit of justice.
