Kesari Chapter 2 Shows Strong Box Office Growth on Day 2, Continues to Impress at the Box Office

Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited courtroom drama, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, has been seeing good growth at the box office. The film, which is based on real events and stars Akshay Kumar as Justice C Sankaran Nair, collected ?9.50 crore on its second day of release. With this, its total earnings in two days now stand at ?17 crore in India.

The film opened in cinemas on Good Friday and had a decent start on its first day, collecting ?7.50 crore. On Saturday, the movie picked up pace and witnessed a growth of around 25%, earning ?9.50 crore. This rise in collections is quite impressive and shows that the positive word-of-mouth is working in the film’s favour. While most other films saw a dip after the holiday release, Kesari Chapter 2 managed to gain more momentum.

Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Kesari Chapter 2 tells the gripping story of a historic courtroom battle. It is inspired by the book The Case That Shook The Empire. The movie revolves around the courageous legal fight led by Justice C Sankaran Nair against the British Empire following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Along with Akshay Kumar, the film features R Madhavan as Advocate Neville McKinley and Ananya Panday as Dilreet Gill. Regina Cassandra plays Parvathy Nair, wife of C Sankaran Nair. The performances of the cast have been praised, especially for the emotional and powerful courtroom scenes.

Originally, Kesari Chapter 2 was supposed to clash with Sanjay Dutt’s The Bhootnii. However, that film was postponed to May 1, giving Kesari Chapter 2 a solo run at the box office. This move is clearly working in its favour.

With Sunday around the corner, trade analysts expect the film to cross ?28 crore by the end of its opening weekend. The positive buzz and strong content might give this patriotic courtroom drama the push it deserves.
