Karan Johar wants to cast Ranveer, Alia and Janhvi in the reboot of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai!

Karan Johar revealed his wish list for the reboot of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai at The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne…

Karan Johar has completed more than 20 years in Bollywood. The director over the years has impressed us with movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), My Name is Khan (2010), Student Of The Year (2012).

Recently, the 47-year-old director-producer was honoured with a special segment dedicated to him at The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2019. Karan held a special screening of his debut movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), at the festival to mark the above mentioned milestone.

Now-a-days, there is a trend of rebooting old movies with the new cast, from Farah Khan and Rohit Shetty’s ‘Satte Pe Satta’ remake to David Dhawan’s ‘Coolie No.1’ reboot starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, has been making headlines everyday with new details. KJo was asked about his plans of rebooting the Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji starrer, a movie which has become one of the landmark films of Bollywood.

The filmmaker revealed that he wouldn't revisit the film anytime in the near future, even though he has a tentative cast in mind to reprise the iconic roles of Rahul, Anjali and Tina. He said,

On my wish list would be Ranveer Singh as Rahul. He has the mad intensity of Shah Rukh Khan. I would cast Alia Bhatt as Anjali since she has the spunk and Janhvi Kapoor as Tina because she has the poise required for the part.

Interestingly, the trio will be seen sharing the screen space for his magnum opus Takht that also stars Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in pivotal roles.

The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director also shared an incident, where he revealed how he managed to get SRK on board despite not having a script of the 1998 romantic drama.

"I remembering going to meet him — I had no script whatsoever and had only a scene in my mind. I narrated it to Shah Rukh, telling him that if you like this scene, then I will narrate the entire film to you. That was obviously a lie," he revealed

Well, even if Karan is not going to touch his directorial debut movie anytime soon, we are eager to watch how the movie would turn out if the reboot of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was ever made and that too with his dream cast!

Stay tuned for more updates!
