Kantara Prequel: Rishab Shetty’s Epic Saga Confirms Release Date Amid Postponement Rumors

Rishab Shetty’s much-anticipated film Kantara: Chapter 1 is all set to release on October 2, 2025. Despite the confirmation, rumors about a possible postponement had been circulating. However, the makers have now put all speculations to rest by reaffirming the release date.

Taking to social media, the team shared a powerful video along with a caption that read, “No doubts. No delays. The legendary saga, #KantaraChapter1 unfolds on October 2nd, 2025.” This statement has reassured fans eagerly waiting for the fantasy-action spectacle.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is a period fantasy action film that serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. The story is set during the reign of Kadambas of Banavasi and will explore the deep mythology behind the Panjurli Deiva introduced in the first film. Rishab Shetty, who not only directs the film but also pens the screenplay, is set to portray the role of a Naga Sadhu with extraordinary powers.

Produced by Hombale Films, the studio behind Salaar, the movie is being made on a grand scale with impressive production value. While the full cast is yet to be revealed, the film will feature B. Ajaneesh Loknath composing the background score and Arvind S. Kashyap handling cinematography.

The film will be originally released in Kannada and later dubbed into Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and English to reach a wider audience. The post-theatrical streaming rights of Kantara: Chapter 1 have already been acquired by Amazon Prime Video, ensuring a strong digital presence post its theatrical run.

This film will be a part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) and will explore the divine journey of Lord Hanuman, following the events of HanuMan starring Teja Sajja.
