Kannada Group threatens to commit SUICIDE if Sunny Leone performs

The protesters burn pictures of Sunny and state that we shouldn't promote people like her.

It's almost time for the New Year's and everyone seems to be making their plans to welcome 2018. Similarly, actress Sunny Leone was to perform in Bengaluru city on 31st December, but the protest by members of a pro-Kannada organisation called the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene led to the cancellation of this event.

The Home Minister of Karnataka Ramalinga Reddy on Friday took to Twitter to clarify that no permission was given to the organisers of the event.

The group protested against the performance of Sunny in their city. The secretary of the organization said, "We are against Sunny wearing short clothes. If she wears saree and takes part in the event, even we'll go watch her. Sunny doesn't have a good past. We shouldn't be encouraging such people. We will not hesitate to commit suicide on December 31".

However, the organizers say that the program will not be a blow to the state's cultural values. One of the organiser was quoted saying, "This is a family-type programme with Sunny dancing on a Kannada song, and I, being a Kannadiga, have kept the programmes standard based on the Bengaluru culture itself. Even though Sunny got a lot of events that offered her more money, she rejected those and agreed to come to Bengaluru since Bengaluru and Hyderabad are her favorite places. I don't know what the protestors are expecting or what they think; this is a family show where the culture of the state won't be disturbed".
