Jhanvi Kapoor confirms Madhuri Dixit to replace Sridevi in 'Shiddat'

Abhishek Varman's next 'Shiddat' earlier starred Sridevi but now Madhuri Dixit Nene will be playing her role in the film. While they were unofficial talks buzzing around Bollywood town about Madhuri stepping into the shoes of Sridevi and today Jhanvi Kapoor confirmed the same.

Sridevi's daughter Jhanvi Kapoor posted, "Abhishek Varman's next film was very close to mom's heart ...Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film..."

As we had reported earlier, Madhuri will star against Sanjay Dutt in this film and this news has surely excited their fans. A source had earlier revealed, "Madhuri Dixit Nene has been roped in to play late Sridevi's character in this cross-border period drama. The makers are in talks with Aaja Nachle actress to play Sridevi's role. Since Madhuri is close to Karan Johar, she feels it'll be her way to pay a memorable tribute to Sridevi, if she becomes the part of this project".

However, Karan Johar had rubbished the above news. He had stated, "Karan was extremely fond of Sridevi and they shared an amazing relationship. He doesn't want to rush to find a replacement right away. That is certainly not on his priority list".

This movie will also mark ex-flames Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt's on-screen reunion after almost 21 years. Back in 80's, Madhuri's chemistry with Sanjay was a hit and a favourite among the audience.
