Janhvi Kapoor is a BOMB in her black YSL gown from Cannes 2025; is she replacing Deepika Padukone in Spirit?

Janhvi Kapoor has surely made an impression sartorially in her debut appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. Today, Vogue India shared her pictures in a YSL archival black backless gown from 1975 Rive Gauche collection. Janhvi Kapoor looks like a complete diva as she walks down the French Riviera in the black backless gown. Her look was accessorized with diamond studs from Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers, a Hermes Kelly bag and Christian Louboutin shoes. She was there for the premiere of Homebound that stars former beau Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles.

The actress wore a Tarun Tahiliani skirt and corset for the red carpet of Homebound. It was made of Benarasi fabric. The pearly pink outfit with a small Ghunghaat got mixed reactions from people. She teamed it with a lot of pearls. International critics have praised Homebound that got a nine-minute standing ovation at Cannes 2025. She is playing the role of Sudha in the film. The movie is about the aspirations of two friends, Shoaib (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa) who aspire to get into the police force. It tackles issues like social discrimination, reservation and aspirations of Indian youth in the hinterland.

Now, reports are coming that Janhvi Kapoor is being considered for Spirit opposite Prabhas. Deepika Padukone is no longer a part of the film. Janhvi Kapoor has already done a Telugu movie Devara with Jr NTR. She is also a part of Ram Charan’s Peddi where she plays a village belle. Janhvi Kapoor also has good grasp over Telugu language.
