Being a celebrity has its own gains and losses. Bollywood stars are often in the public eye, which also leads to massive trolling on the Internet.

Arjun Kapoor has been a constant target of the trolls. Starting from his personal life to his professional standing, the trolls have often passed harsh comments against him. And recently, when the trailer of his upcoming film Panipat released, the memes army took over the Internet and left no stone unturned in cracking jokes and getting nasty over the actor’s character in the film.

For the uninitiated, Arjun plays Sadashiv Rao Bhau in Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama film. Besides the massive comparisons between Arjun’s role of Sadashiv Bhau and Ranveer Singh’s role of Bajirao from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, the actor has been facing the wrath of social media trolls.

Talking of the meme culture during the recent media interactions, Arjun said “Everybody gets trolled these days, it's habitual for people to become negative. However, if you're making fun of the film, you're making fun of the people who sacrificed their lives for India.”

He adds, “I don't see memes on Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bos but Sadashiv Rao. He’s an equally valuable hero, this man was a martyr but no one knows his story.”

Arjun asserts that social media has lost its balance. “It's become derogatory and insensitive,'' says the actor.

Meanwhile, Arjun also expresses his disappointment with the trolls getting nasty over his character Sadashiv Rao. “I will crack jokes on myself, I have a habit and I have laughed at these memes in the past as well but making fun of this character and this film is unfair. And nobody says anything because nobody knows about them and the history,” Arjun concludes.

Besides, the star cast of the film Arjun and Kriti are on a promotional spree for their upcoming film, Panipat, scheduled to release on 6 December 2019.
