"I miss it" - Bipasha Basu confesses being ready for work again but only on one condition

Bipasha Basu, who once appeared regularly on the big screen, has been away from the spotlight for almost a decade. After her last lead role in 2015, the actor chose to step back from the pace of the film industry. She has since been focusing on her personal life, especially embracing motherhood.

The actor shared that her break wasn’t unplanned. Having worked from a young age, she felt the need to pause and enjoy the life she had built. Marriage brought with it a natural shift in priorities, and soon after, her focus turned toward starting a family. The journey to motherhood wasn’t without its challenges, but she made it clear that she had no regrets about choosing to slow down.

Basu also mentioned that during her time away from films, she found comfort in staying grounded. She acknowledged that it has been a quiet, family-focused phase of her life.

Though she's been away from acting for some time, the desire to perform hasn't gone away. She confirmed that a return to the screen is on the horizon. She said she’s keeping an open mind and will wait for the right project to come her way. While she hasn’t locked in any particular script or platform yet, she believes the environment today is more conducive to meaningful work, especially for women.

In one candid moment, Bipasha revealed her motivation for returning to work: “I need my child to see who I am, apart from being a mum… I want to make her proud and I want to do some substantial work which will make her proud as she’s growing up.”

Although she isn’t in a hurry, Basu is optimistic about what lies ahead. Her comeback may not be immediate, but it’s certainly in motion.
