"I just know one Man that is my Dad.": Mukti Mohan

Mukti Mohan feels that women in this country are not treated as equals.

Mukti Mohan at GR8! Fashion Walk for the Cause Beti by Television SitarreThe gorgeous Mukti Mohan tweeted today about the International Women's Day, "There is nothing happy being a woman in this country. The fact that we don't have a Happy Man's day shows how we are not equal."

When we called her to share her thoughts with us she elaborated, "Yes my tweet says it all. For example I would like to share what happened with me in the morning. Since its too hot nowadays, I went down to get coconut water where I encountered 3 boys who were looking at me and making weird sounds or should I say teasing. I ignored and walked away without saying anything. But till when? Its not just with me, there are so many other girls who face the same and even worst than this. Eve-teasing and rape has just become a daily thing. After this how can we say we are respected?"

She further added up saying, "Even in the Parliament, women are given the right to freedom of speech but when it comes to the point of negotiation they are put aside. I just don't understand why does this happen when we claim to say that men and women are equal."

"I just know one Man that is my Dad who truly respects women. His upbringing and the freedom that he has given to us 4 sisters, proves his respect for woman. We should appreciate such people in our lives" she concluded.

We also have an exclusive beautiful poem written by Mukti for Women's Day.

            Never Die

I desire throwing the very 'self' in flames,
I burn but I never ash up and die,
Because my dear wandering soul says, "You MUST TRY".

Determined restricting mind, caging my wings,
When all I need is a wind longing to play with my hair,
Burst my colors, slither up like a fire particle buffers,
In undiscovered self,
In undiscovered territory.

I dig more than what I have,
and know more than what I am,
Unknowingly I become a wound ecdysiast,
Breathing out my own chilly mind games,
Becoming a newly born yet again,
Switching to yet another life, as one says "Action".
I am mere puppet of words,
Which you cant goggle but only ogle.

I Desire, I Dig, I Burn, I Try,
Only because I can't Die.
I am the daughter of India who recently learnt hope,
Keeping my heart at flames all times,
An organ of Fire my Heart whoever you dwell in,
Beat out loud inside the Heart.
"You must keep it Burning".
