"I feel like a newcomer everyday"

Saakshi Tanwar who has been on Indian Television for more than 15 years admits to still feeling like a newcomer.

In the 15 odd years that she has been on Indian Television, Saakshi has gained a huge fan following but the actress claims that she still feels like a newcomer every day. Staying glued to her roots, Saakshi says, "I enjoyed doing Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki which ran for eight years where I was fortunate to portray my character in various stages of life. I got a lot of adulation, success, popularity and of course fan following and I was happily sitting at home and didn't want anything else but by God's grace my career moved on and I went on to do many other shows. I feel blessed and feel that whatever I have achieved in my career post-Kahaani is a bonus."

Having said this Saakshi says that she however still feels that her career is growing, "I still ask for a narration and want to learn." Talking about her relation with Balaji she says, "Balaji and Ekta are more like a family now. It is a bond, which is hard to crack. There is a level of understanding and professionalism, which is deep set between Balaji and me,"

Sakshi who has earlier teamed up with Ekta Kapoor, to act in the successful TV show "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii" is currently seen in "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain", produced by the same banner and soon will be seen on Life OK's Ek Thi Naayka a mini series produced by Ekta's Balaji Telefilms to promote their film Ek Thi Daayan.

"Our combination has seen many success stories. I hope the same happens with 'Ek Thhi Naayka'," added the actress who plays the character in a story with a Rajasthani backdrop. While she does believe in the power of the supreme she has never experienced a super natural or paranormal activity, "Since I have not seen or even know whether such a thing exists it is difficult for me to define even a daayan. I get scared by ghost stories and cannot even watch a horror flick! But the actor in me decided to take up this show as basically it is an interesting premise and as an actor I wanted to experiment all genres and every possible different thing."

She also put forward a very professional attitude when she accepted the character earlier rejected by Smriti Zubin Irani. Smriti who it seems did not want to be portrayed as a nautch girl was given another story with a Gujarati background. However, this did not deter Saakshi to accept the same role when it was offered to her, "I take this very professionally and as an actor deliver what the story and character demands so I didn't think twice when this particular offer was made to me."
