'I feel demotivated playing this role' - Rameshwari
Rameshwari plays the typical housewife and the devoted mother in Sony's Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na. Here is the experienced actress talking about her role...
A mother plays a very important role in the life of her children. And if it is a daughter, a mother’s responsibility increases as she has to be a guide, a friend and a strong supporter through out her daughter’s life. Even after a girl leaves her parent’s house, its the mother who gives her endless support to face all the odds in life. But what is in the room for Rameshwari, who plays the mother of the lead in Sony's new soap, Ratna Sinha's Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na? We caught up with her to find out more on her role.

You are also a mother in real life. So, how comfortable do you feel playing this character? “I am feeling a little de-motivated playing this role because I feel I am not the right person for this role. I may look the typical mother but I don't feel right, since I come from a background that is completely feminist and I am a strong believer in feminism but in spite of that, I plan to do justice to my role and will play it to the hilt. I can’t epitomize the character I play and it will take me time to get used to the role and being a typical housewife”.
When asked what made her accept this offer, she quipped, “I chose the role because I was sitting at home not doing anything and I go through phases wherein I think I'll take up the job and I do it, but after a certain amount of time I regret the decision. It's just one of the phases I go through in my acting life. And now it's the phase of working”. It is only a week since the serial has begun. But what can the viewers expect in the future? “Right now I don't really know. All I know is about the role I play. I can just say wait and watch to see what happens in the future”.

omkari @omkari 15 years ago TV is more accessible in India and more people watch it. Be creative, be progressive, change with times and utilize the talent. Obviously playing a mother is not an issue, but playing a non inspiring, non creative character is for Rameshwari. Take that cue, run with it and make a TV serial that the whole India is proud of.

I agree with Rameshwari....the TV folks shd stop stereotyping mothers and housewives. Times have changed, this generation of moms is more open-minded. Wake up and smell the chai, folks.
