After playing the role of a typical village housewife and mother in Jab Love Hua, Rameshwari is all set to perform a similar type of character in Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na. “I don't really know the different shades of my character. As of now, the only shade I know is that of a typical mother and housewife for whom the son is very important and all her hopes are pinned on him and that the responsibility to run the family is on his shoulders”.

You are also a mother in real life. So, how comfortable do you feel playing this character? “I am feeling a little de-motivated playing this role because I feel I am not the right person for this role. I may look the typical mother but I don't feel right, since I come from a background that is completely feminist and I am a strong believer in feminism but in spite of that, I plan to do justice to my role and will play it to the hilt. I can’t epitomize the character I play and it will take me time to get used to the role and being a typical housewife”.

When asked what made her accept this offer, she quipped, “I chose the role because I was sitting at home not doing anything and I go through phases wherein I think I'll take up the job and I do it, but after a certain amount of time I regret the decision. It's just one of the phases I go through in my acting life. And now it's the phase of working”. It is only a week since the serial has begun. But what can the viewers expect in the future? “Right now I don't really know. All I know is about the role I play. I can just say wait and watch to see what happens in the future”.

omkari 13 years ago TV is more accessible in India and more people watch it. Be creative, be progressive, change with times and utilize the talent. Obviously playing a mother is not an issue, but playing a non inspiring, non creative character is for Rameshwari. Take that cue, run with it and make a TV serial that the whole India is proud of.

pallavi25 13 years ago I agree with Rameshwari....the TV folks shd stop stereotyping mothers and housewives. Times have changed, this generation of moms is more open-minded. Wake up and smell the chai, folks.
