Hungama 2 to not release in theatres; Takes direct to digital route

The announcement of the second instalment of the classic Priyadarshan film, Hungama 2, had left fans beaming with excitement.

The star cast leading this laugh riot include Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan and Pranita Subhash. The film was slated to hit the theatres last year.

However, due to the ongoing pandemic in the nation, release of several films was postponed and now it seems confirmed that Hungama 2 will skip a theatrical release. The makers are heading for a direct to digital route to premiere their film, reports Pinkvilla.

As per the report, the Priyadarashan comedy will premiere directly on Disney+Hotstar. It suggests that the deal is underway and the producers, Ratan Jain, Chetan Jain and Ganesh Jain are close to sealing the deal.

The 2003 Priyadarshan film, Hungama, continues to be a gem in the archives of comedy-drama films. With Paresh Rawal, Aftab Shivdasani, Akshaye Khanna and Rimi Sen in the lead roles, the film still manages to tickle your funny bones even today.

After 16 long years, Priyadarshan is set to command the second installment, Hungama 2 and the excitement is definitely at par.
