After seven long years, the much-awaited sequel of the 2013 zombie apocalypse action comedy film Go Goa Gone is finally taking place. Directed by Raj and D.K, the film featured Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Puja Gupta, and Anand Tiwari, and was highly appreciated and loved by the audiences.
The wait for the sequel is finally over as Eros international and Maddock Films announced the good news today, on Wednesday. “It’s been quite a journey from 2013, and I’m so excited we’re back again with this crazy ride! Go Goa Gone redefined many things, and we are gunning to do that again. The characters have stayed with us all this while and we are thrilled to bring them back to life” said Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films in a statement.
Reportedly, the sequel will take off from the point where the original ended and all the actors are expected to reprise their characters as in the first part. “Sunil and I have had a great partnership and I’m excited to be back together especially for this film. We are finishing the final draft and we should roll by September 2020,” added the filmmaker.
Besides, Sunil Lulla, Managing Director of Eros International Media Ltd, stated: “It’s been a long time since Dinesh and me have worked and I’m excited to be collaborating with him once again.”
In an earlier interview with Asian Age, Raj had said “Ideally, I would love to have everybody in the sequel as well. I have met all the actors and they all loved the story and they all want to do it. It is just a matter of logistics.” Talking about shooting the film in Goa again, he said, “I would like to shoot in Goa but there is an element in the story for which we might look elsewhere also. So, I can’t give out much right now.”
The second installment of the horror-comedy, Go Goa Gone 2 is slated to release in March 2021.
