In a significant development, it has been confirmed that Diljit Dosanjh will not be removed from the upcoming film "Border 2." This decision comes amidst a backdrop of controversy surrounding the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his recent movie, Sardaar Ji 3. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), which had previously issued a non-cooperation order against Dosanjh, has now reversed its stance and lifted the ban on the actor.
According to FWICE President BN Tiwari, "Border 2" producer Bhushan Kumar personally intervened. He appealed to the federation, requesting that Diljit Dosanjh be permitted to continue working on the film. “Yes, the ban has been revoked for this project," Tiwari confirmed.
Initially, the FWICE expressed its displeasure to the "Border 2" team. In a letter addressed to Bhushan Kumar (T-Series), JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta (JP Films), and director Anurag Singh, the FWICE stated its "deep disappointment" with Diljit Dosanjh's casting in the film.
“The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of actor-singer Mr Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film Border 2 produced under the banner of JP Films in collaboration with T-Series and directed by Mr Anurag Singh," the letter read.
The FWICE considered the casting a "blatant violation" of its directive. This directive was issued to boycott Diljit Dosanjh following his "unpatriotic act of working with a Pakistani actress, Ms. Hania Aamir, in the film Sardaar Ji 3."
“By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation," the letter added.
Subsequently, the FWICE also contacted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah. They appealed for the revocation of permissions for "Border 2" to film at the National Defence Academy (NDA). Currently, the film is being shot in Pune.
