Diljit Dosanjh drops new post about Sardaar Ji 3’s smashing records overseas amid backlash in India

Amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding his film Sardaar Ji 3, Diljit Dosanjh has maintained a composed demeanor. Despite online debates, the actor has remained silent, appearing unaffected by the backlash. His recent Instagram post serves as evidence of his calm approach. On Wednesday, Diljit shared photos on his Instagram, showcasing his style as he posed inside his luxurious private jet.

Diljit Dosanjh, in a candid moment, is seen wearing a white kurta pyjama and flaunting his signature moustache. Accompanying the images, he wrote, “SARDAAR JI 3 Smashing Records Overseas."

Despite the controversy surrounding the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, due to a ban by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) following the Pahalgam attack, "Sardaar Ji 3" has performed well at the box office. Although not released in India due to the issue, the film earned a substantial amount during its opening weekend, driven by positive audience response in Pakistan. The Sardaar Ji 3 team revealed that the Diljit Dosanjh-led franchise's third installment has grossed an impressive Rs. 18.1 crore worldwide in its first three days. The Punjabi comedy has also reportedly set a new record in Pakistan, becoming the highest-opening Indian film in the country.

Following the release of the trailer, various groups initiated calls to ban Diljit Dosanjh and his future projects in India. Both the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued statements demanding such a ban.

Diljit Dosanjh recently addressed the controversy, telling the BBC Asian Network that the project was completed before current political tensions arose.

Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi, he said, adding that the makers are aware they will incur losses. “Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them."

Sardaar Ji 3 stars Hania Aamir as a ghost hunter, alongside Diljit Dosanjh, who is assigned to exorcise a spirit from a UK mansion. The film blends action and comedy, with romantic elements as Hania and Neeru Bajwa compete for Diljit's affection.
